Ain’t nobody satisfied


To all of Leeroy’s robot minions, last week’s 100 Word Song submissions were outstanding. Congrats to each of you on penning your own version of John Hiatt’s “Have a Little Faith in Me.”

As luck would have it, Lance picked my entry and gave me the keys to the kingdom to choose this week’s song.

Before we get to the new song, please keep Deana, Lance’s wife, in your thoughts. Her father is gravely ill and the prognosis is not good.

For your inspiration for the next 100 Word Song, I picked a tune by Ashley Monroe, “Satisfied.” I’m not typically a country music fan, but this one speaks volumes to me.

My 100:

Ink from the letter was bleeding through its envelope as drops of rain spilled off the eaves of the cafe’s canopy into her coat pocket

She knew the message by heart. He was setting her free, releasing her from her vows of love to pursue a better life. Sitting outside in the cold and grey weather, she wasn’t so sure he was doing her any favors.

A signature away from having her heart’s desire, and her happily ever after was falling apart. She had no where to go. Her better life had found his own true love and walked away.
