Vacation season has even affected everyone’s favorite 100 word song meme. Someone’s in The Hamptons. Somebody else is away. We only had six responses. But, they rocked. Kat aka @sassyirishlasie’s song choice was great for me, and six of you really brought it hard. Since everyone who wrote has picked before, we’re going back to k, aka @celestialrain, and her excellent 100 http://bloggitwrite.blogspot.com/ we’re also breaking some rules. The Black Crowes were featured before. Thsi time k chose She Talks To Angels, the epic ballad from Atlanta band (I’ve seen them love 4 times). It’s a song about a goth girl singer Chris Robinson knew addicted to heroin but it can be interpreted so many ways. It fit into my book, The Ballad of Helene Troy. I wrote twelve songs for the novel. My 100 for this week is one of those tunes. Imagine a G/C/D power chord with a Marshall amp cut and turned up to 10.
Last time with Helene: http://lancemyblogcanbeatupyourblog.wordpress.com/2012/06/22/another-girl-another-planet/
You have two voices
there’s the one that lies, it’s the one that calls
late at night, makes me question my choices
the younger one shouldn’t care for the one that falls
you’re always talking about special
going on about something beyond
but you suck at details, you’re superficial
you take, you take, you’re the dusk before dawn (chorus)
What happened was bad but there’s gotta be another day
second chance turned fifth, and I’m downing one to get by
I’m on vodka because the whiskey’s gone away
I’m too pissed for drunk and too tired to cry
(repeat chorus twice)
You can find the rest of The Ballad Of Helene Troy, so far, here: http://lancemyblogcanbeatupyourblog.wordpress.com/the-ballad-of-helene-troy/

“I’m too pissed for drunk and too tired to cry” I have been here many times. What a great line!
thank you honey, Helene loves that line.
You couldn’t have known this, but “She Talks to Angels” is my favorite song of all time. Ever. There are a million memories wrapped up in it and I love it so, so much. Great post in response, and thanks for making my morning by posting this song
you should write for this song. its only 100 words and it doesnt have to be fiction. thank you. it is a terrific song.
Is there a web site where people can upload song lyrics and singers/producers can view them and buy the ones they like? There should be. If there is you should find it!
i’m sure there is but SHHHHH! i like my minimum amount of creativity and webz “fame” – sarcasm
I expect a DVD to be packaged with the book.
i wish that were possible…
What a great idea Tara!
Love the songwriting. Way to change it up around here!
Gonna try to write this one, I have big love for this tune.
awesome! Leeroy missed you last week. Thanks for talking about the change up. I need to mix in some personal stuff too. getting Helene “fixed” and ready is taking all my time.
This is literally a 100-word song. Good one Lance, songwriting isn’t easy to do, I’m sure.

And big surprise, one line clicked a cog. I linked up.
tahnk k…she picked picked a great one. thank you for writing. you were missed.
Great job on the song, it makes a nice addition to Helene. The line “I’m too pissed for drunk and too tired to cry” sets a clear picture for both the character, and for the moment.
awesome…people are happy with you and your song. total success.
That makes me smile from the inside out
smooth as burlap, baby! Hey I posted a song for ya. Check it out

yep…thanks sassy…cant wait to read yours…GO
what a perfect item to include about a rocker chick making it big. I love how you can craft songs that fit in with Helene’s story. Now, to figure out what to write…
