Angela surprised Leeroy and I with her excellent choice of Garbage’s #1 Crush. The entries ranged from jailhouse devotion to parental love. The artistry was amazing. Rene aka @JustRene on the twitter is one of my favorite writers. Her poetry is challenging, diverse, and never dull. She seems to top the one from before with each post. Her piece just floored me and I think Leeroy read it over a dozen times http://www.nottherockefellers.blogspot.com/ Rene and I share the same tastes in music. I kind of figure there would be something Jack White related when Leeroy asked her to choose this week’s tune. Sure enough, Rene selected The Dead Weather, Jack’s rock band with super female vocalist Allison Mosshart, and their song I Cut Like A Buffalo. I’ve always thought the song was about a sensitive guy who tries to assure a woman that he’s still “all man”. The genders are easily reversed. For my 100 we revisit Jake and Violet in that hospital room as part of my short story Soul To Body
Last time on Soul To Body http://lancemyblogcanbeatupyourblog.wordpress.com/2012/07/25/100-word-song-1-crush/
They comforted each other for several minutes. The more Violet snuggled under her dad’s stubbled chin, Jake’s memory wandered to something many years earlier.
“I love watching you carrying Violet to bed. It’s the most amazing combination of sensitivity and manliness.”
Camille’s top row of straight, white teeth grazed her pinkish bottom lip.
“Well I hope that little girl knows that just because I love on her, it doesn’t mean I won’t crush anyone that makes her hurt.”
Camille’s eyes rolled. She wrapped her arms around Jake’s neck.
“One day that little girl will think the same way. Be ready.”
Everything you need to know about 100 wordsong is here:
You have until next Tuesday night to write 100 words inspired by The Dead Weather’s I Cut Like A Buffalo. Don’t forget to link up to the Mr. Linky thing at the bottom. Leeroy thanks you. Here’s The Dead Weather, this intro is bad ass.

This story proves what a great dad you are!
You’re such a DAD!
ps: That’s a HUGE compliment.
that’s what my wife said…Jake’s learning
Yeah. The teen years. Houseful of girls… and boys in the driveway. Like a kidskin boot on your neck.
I enjoyed the flashback to a time when his wife was still alive. Maybe those memories will keep the likes of Mallory at a distance, at least until Jake gets his balance.
“One day that little girl will think the same way. Be ready.” The immensity of it, right?
