Come on 100 word readers and writers, show me your jazz hands. This week requires them. We picked up a music loving hitchiker from Canada last week, Dawn aka @happinesscubed. Her selection of Swing Life Away was not only good, interpretative song, but it was needed change of pace from a new voice, eh. I decided to dip water froma similar well. My boy Eric from Sinistral Scibblings http://sinistralscribblings.com/2012/08/08/swing-life-away/ has written for 100 word song on and off but hasn’t ever chosen a tune. His tastes are uber-electic so it came as no surprise he went with Mrs. Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, with Peel Me A Grape, a jazz standard originally written in 1962. You can find Eric’s amazing fiction and non -fiction on his aforementioned blog, on the twitter @ewstorch_nh and he’s the co-head honcho at StudioThirtyplus.com
For my 100 we go back to Jake and his red-headed femme fatale, Mallory, from my ongoing short story, Soul To Body.
Jake tried to sit up in hospital bed but the pain rolling over his damaged ribs conquered him. He looked down at his waist and saw Mallory’s left hand rubbing his abdomen, staring into his eyes.
“I’ll give you medicine. I’ll fluff your pillow. I’ll massage whatever ache is upon you. Just don’t fight us. I’ll do whatever it takes to give you what you want and need.”
It had been over a year since a woman had touched him that low on his body. He was too exhausted to worry about Violet or Augusta coming back to the room.
The rules are simple. Give Leeroy, the 100 word song robot, your best interetation of this week’s song. Keep it at exactly 100 words. Link up to the Mr. Linky robot friend of Leeroy’s at the bottom. Use the twitter, the book of faces and your awesome blog to spread the word of your 100 word song. Tell a friend or 50. Let’s have some writing fun with Diana Krall’s Peel Me A Grape. Don;t forget your finger snaps and jazz hands. GO….
