In school I knew a pretty girl named Beth. I called her Liz. She wanted to be rich, famous and gone. She got it all. She’s on Celebrity Rehab, seasons five and six.
****blogger’s note****
This is fiction, but not by much. It’s my 33 word entry for Trifecta’s Trifextra: http://www.trifectawritingchallenge.com/ On to the weekend challenge. The Monkey’s
Paw, a short story by W.W. Jacobs, is about the strings that come with
granted wishes. We are asking you to write 33 words exactly about three wishes
that come at a high price to the wisher.
Today’s song is by my fellow Georgia boy, who knows a lot of these girls (and boys). Here’s Bethamphetamine. Yes, that Avril in the video. Crank it, anyway.
This is perfection! You nailed this prompt.
wow, that was quick. thank you.
Quick, sharp, and to the fatal point. Nice work.
dk
You captured the sadness and detriment of some wishes. With impact, I’ll add. Hope she’s straight now!
me too, thanks so much
Perfect!
thank you christine
Ha! She must have been your first girlfriend! hehe good job babe!
or second or third….thanks baby
I love the title. It’s funny and not funny at the same time. Nice work.
it is funny is an awww way…thanks steph
Well done – fame is a double edged sword!
thank you
Perfect rendition of the classic celeb rise and fall story. So, the fictional part was that it was really seasons 3 and 4?
can’t say, but that’s not a bad guess….thank you
Sharp use of the prompt. Those are the worst wishes, in my opinion. Too open for interpretation and consequences undesired. Yikes!
yeah, always. I know a few of these girls…and boys
Me too, Lance, only most were more of the rock/rhythm/blues women of the 80s and 90s. Different crowds, same basic human issues. It is nice to have pulled through those years with a few more tools in the proverbial toolkit, but I still miss some of them horribly.
*channels inner Lockhart* Celebrity is as celebrity does. *wise nod*
Love it. You’ve also helped me rediscover some great music that I’d completely forgotten about. Thanks!
there’s not a bad Butch album…thank you
That’s fabulous. I’m so envious of people who can write great sentence stories. It’s such a uniquely brilliant skill.
thank you megan! welcome back
Right on, Lance. You nailed it. I believed every word until I read your note.
This was a fun prompt. Sorry I missed it.
thanks michelle
